When I designed the pages of this planner, it was my never intention to type every thing in Acrobat Reader and print out the typed pages. After my experience with other digital planners, I realized that I am much better with pen and paper than I am digital planners. I had intended to offer the planner in bound book form printed in the good ole USA. Unfortunately, I could not find a printer who would bind it for less than $84.00. Seriously! This beautiful color planner would set most homeschoolers back a pretty penny to actually be worth it. So I decided to offer it as a editable PDF. That way, you could print it yourself at home if you wanted to (set your printer for Fast Draft to save ink*).

Anyway, I thought I would share how I use my printed Weekly Planning sheets to plan. I do not plan a week in advance. It is too hard to predict what will happen. While moving lessons is just as simple as erasing, I find that I am much more focused if I plan day-by-day. Once I have narrowed down my curriculum choices and we have mapped out our schedule, I am ready to begin.

As you can see in the image to the right, I set up my weekly planning with the following subjects:

Health (includes our Mourning Routine (washing up and brushing teeth, and activities/discussions from Everybody has a Body)

Language Arts (incorporates Reading, Writing, Spelling, and Grammar)

Math

Science

Sign Language and Spanish (2xs a week alternating each)

Latin

Music and Art (2xs a week)

Phys. Ed

History and Geography

Some things to note:

Because our school week is irregular, we start on Sundays. My husband is off Sunday-Tuesday and I don’t do business until late night on those days so we can enjoy those days together. We also school 7 days a week all year around.

I use abbreviations for my Curriculum books to save space.

I write in pencil to make the planning more flexible.

When we complete something that we plan, we check it off.

At the end of the day, if we don’t get to something, I write “MOVED” across that section after writing it in the appropriate space on the next day and then I plan that day in full.

I hope that this helps you in getting started planning your day. Next up? I will discuss how we use the Subject Time Logs and the Daily Planning Sheets. But in the meantime, how do you use your weekly planning sheets? Share with us!

*I am working on an image and color free planner if you would like to print it.
